Christian Arnold Ramsland |​ North Carolina Data Scientist

Christian Arnold Ramsland is a data scientist with a strong foundation in statistics, chemistry, and computational modeling, and he is best known for his work supporting environmental research with national impact. From 2020 to 2023, he served as a physicochemical data scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Raleigh, North Carolina, contributing analysis and research used to inform decisions on complex environmental issues across the country.

In this role, Mr. Ramsland evaluated chemical toxicity, transport, and exposure pathways, applying data science methods alongside advanced quantitative techniques to help assess risks to people and ecosystems. His work draws on expertise in molecular structure and physicochemical properties, paired with statistical and computational approaches that strengthen study design, interpretation, and reporting. Proficient in Java, R, and Python, he also brings practical experience with spreadsheets and reproducible analysis workflows.

Mr. Ramsland’s research contributions have been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, reflecting his commitment to rigorous, high-quality science. Earlier in his career, he built experience through analytics and programming internships at Inmar Corporation and Covance, Inc., and through academic research at the University of Michigan.

He earned a BS in biochemistry from Baylor University and an MS in statistics from North Carolina State University. Beyond his professional work, he engages with the environmental community through industry and educational events, including those hosted by organizations such as the American Wind Energy Association.
